Elderberry Syrup Kit
Included in the kit:
Elderberry package
Spices packet
Also needed:
3 1/2 cups water
1 cup raw honey
Directions:
- Pour the water into a saucepan and add the contents of the elderberry package and spices packet.
- Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce to a simmer for 45 minutes. Stir often until liquid has been reduced by almost half.
- Remove from heat and let steep and cool for about an hour.
- Strain syrup through a strainer and cheese cloth. Squash the berries to get all the goodness.
- Compost and discard berries.
- Pour in the honey and stir well.
- When the honey is mixed well, pour the syrup into a glass jar with lid and label with the date.
- Store in the refrigerator- syrup can be stored for 2 to 3 months refrigerated in the sealed container.
